John F Kennedy Facts - His good looks and charisma helped make him one of the most popular presidents ever. Kennedy married Jacqueline Kennedy (Bouvier) and they had two children, John Jr., and Caroline.

During his presidency, Kennedy attempted to invade Cuba to remove Castro from the office but was unsuccessful. He also started the Peace Corps program.

Kennedy enacted laws that supported the elderly and economically disadvantaged and supported civil rights. Kennedy also made progress in the space exploration program, and NASA's Launch Operations Center in Florida was renamed the John F. Kennedy Space Center in 1963. Kennedy launched a five billion dollar space program during his presidency.

There are many theories surrounding Kennedy's death, but here are the facts. Kennedy was on his way to Dallas to give a speech.

Their open car entered Dealey Plaza, and a number of shots were fired. Two of those shots hit Kennedy, one in the throat and one in the back of the head.

John F. Kennedy died about 30 minutes later. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the murder and it was proclaimed that he acted alone.

Many people never believed that, and adding to their belief was the fact that two days after his arrest, Oswald was shot in the basement of the Dallas County Jail by a nightclub owner named Jack Ruby, who was allegedly connected to organized crime.

With his death came silence, and we may never know the truth. Anyone who was alive on the day of Kennedy's death will never forget it.

3) John's older brother, Joe was predicted by his father to become president but was killed during WWII.

6) He was the only Roman Catholic elected President of the U.S.

7) He gave the first presidential press conference.

8) He wore special shoes since his right leg was nearly an inch longer than his left.

9) He was the fourth president to be assassinated.
